We are seeking Early Childhood Educators to join our team at Comox Valley Aboriginal Head Start Preschool. Located at 956 Grieve Ave. Courtenay B.C. About the Role: Practicing with a trauma-informed lens, our ECEs will implement culturally rooted programming while supporting the overall well-being of Indigenous children in our 35-year-old classrooms. Key Responsibilities: Provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for young children. Incorporate Indigenous language, culture, and traditions into daily programming. Support the six components of Aboriginal Head Start: Culture & Language, Education & School Readiness, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Parent & Family Involvement, and Social Support. Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that foster emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Build strong, trusting relationships with families and the community. Maintain accurate documentation and reports in compliance with licensing regulations. Be proficient at all parent-facing communications, including calendars, email updates, and monthly newsletters. Qualifications & Requirements: Early Childhood Education Certification(s) (ECE, IT/SN) Current ECE License to Practice in B Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and ways of knowing (strong asset) Experience working with Indigenous families and communities (preferred) Understanding of trauma-informed practices Current First Aid & CPR Certification Current Food Safe Level 1 Certification or willingness to obtain Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) Why Join Our Team?
