Senior Chemical Engineer (Contract Part-Time)Contract Length: 12 monthsHours: ~30 hours per weekCompensation:$4045/hr (LTD)$3337/hr (Temp / Term)Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer (PhD) to support R&D initiatives focused on advanced materials, hybrid composites, and functional coatings. This is a part-time contract role contributing to formulation development, material optimization, and performance testing within an applied R&D environment tied to renewable energy and advanced materials.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimize material formulations including binders, fillers, and additivesDevelop and test slurries, coatings, curing processes, and surface treatmentsCharacterize material performance using rheological, mechanical, and optical testing methodsAnalyze durability, adhesion, flexibility, and environmental performanceCollaborate with engineers and scientists to support prototyping and iterationSupport scale-up considerations with attention to safety and process efficiencyPrepare technical documentation, reports, and IP support as requiredStay current with developments in materials science and chemical engineeringQualificationsPhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline5+ years post-PhD R&D experience in composites, polymers, coatings, or hybrid materialsHands-on experience with slurry, emulsion, or coating formulation and testingStrong working knowledge of material characterization tools and data analysisExperience with additives, reinforcements, and modifiers to enhance material propertiesAbility to work independently in a contract, deliverables-driven environmentExposure to sustainable materials or regulated environments is an asset
