The Occupational Therapist will work in collaboration with other disciplines (Speech Language Pathologists, Educational Psychologists and Student Services Coordinators) to provide comprehensive team services. This position will be based within the K to 12 school system. The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division. Desired Qualifications Master''s degree, or equivalent, in Occupational Therapy. Eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists. A valid driver''s license and willingness to travel. Motivation to work both independently and as a part of a team. Superior interpersonal, communication, and assessment skills. Duties (may Include But Are Not Limited To) Provides assessment of student''s ability to function in the educational environment. This may include assessment of skills and issues related to hand function, oral motor function, visual motor and perceptual skills, seating and positioning, organizational skills, sensory awareness and processing, self-care and prevocational/vocational skills Participates in collaborative program planning Consults with classroom teachers, educational assistants, counsellors and parents Works with classroom teachers to adapt the classroom environment and/or learning materials to facilitate successful participation Provides recommendations for assistive technology and equipment Provides demonstrations and training for teachers, educational assistants and parents to implement recommendations Monitors implementation of recommendations and provides feedback to school personnel, students and family Provides in-service for school personnel on specifics, and whenever possible, with other members of the Student Services professional Assist with transition planning, with particular emphasis on transition from secondary into adult life Provide staff development and training and assist with program monitoring and evaluation.
