Join our Plant Science team as an Associate Scientist in Breeding, where you will lead and support applied research initiatives that drive cannabis cultivar development. This role bridges handson plant work, datadriven decisionmaking, and crossfunctional collaboration with cultivation, postharvest, and biotechnology teams. Were looking for a scientifically curious, detailoriented individual with a strong foundation in plant genetics or breeding, who thrives in a dynamic environment and can balance longterm planning with agile execution. Youll also provide mentorship and oversight to research assistants and contribute to the strategic direction of our breeding program. Responsibilities Design and implement phenotyping trials to evaluate agronomic, morphological, and chemical traits. Establish and manage crossing blocks for trait introgression and hybrid development. Collect, curate, and analyze phenotypic and genotypic data using spreadsheets and statistical tools. Collaborate with cultivation, postharvest, and biotech teams to align breeding goals with production needs. Supervise and mentor research assistants in daily operations and data collection. Maintain accurate records of experimental design, data, and outcomes. Contribute to longterm breeding strategies while remaining responsive to evolving project priorities. Support cannabis tissue sampling, plant care, and compliancerelated documentation. Qualifications MSc in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Horticulture, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or BSc with 5+ years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in plant phenotyping, breeding design, and data analysis. Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA extraction, PCR, marker analysis). Proficiency in Excel and data management tools; experience with R, Python, or statistical software is an asset. Strong organizational and communication skills, with a track record of crossfunctional teamwork including supervisory roles. Knowledge of cannabis biology, physiology, and production systems is highly desirable. Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance under ACMP regulations.
