DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the PCM of the Labour and Delivery, Postpartum, Pediatric and NICU units, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the discharge education class for postpartum patients, conducting clinical assessments, performing nursing interventions and completing required documentation for infants and their caregivers in an ambulatory setting. The candidate will be responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks including schedule management, clinical triage, supply management, and nursing support during elective and non-complex procedures. The candidate will work closely with patients and their families who have recently given birth and act as a liaison between the healthcare system and the primary caregiver. Successful applicants will be required to work in the outpatient Babies Clinic at LHAP. QUALIFICATIONS Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing); RPN Diploma; Completion of a Perinatal Course or in process of completing (within two years of hire date) NOTE: an experienced perinatal nurse with two years of fulltime experience can challenge this course by writing the Canadian Nurses Association Perinatal Certification exam; Minimum 2 years of recent experience working in Post Partum, Pediatrics; Current BCLS and NRP required; Completion of a Breastfeeding Course and/or commitment to completing within 3 months of hire; Candidates must be interested and willing to be trained to work in alternate clinical areas within the Women''s and Children Program (Post Partum Unit); Certification in infant blood collection and/or commitment to complete within 3 months of hire; Preference to a candidate with experience supporting minor surgical procedures (ie/ circumcision); Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO; Demonstrated effective organizational, problem-solving and teaching skills; Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy; Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership/supervisory role; Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; Must have a satisfactory performance and attendance record; Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health''s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; Inclusion and Diversity At Lakeridge Health, we value inclusion and diversity.
