The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer, Projects to join our Creighton Mine Project Team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position. As a Senior Engineer, Projects you will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary sustaining capital and operational projects at Creighton Mine and directing external engineering consultants & construction contractors through the execution of these projects. Your experience and skills will manage the interface between the Engineering Department, Projects group, Procurement (SSO), external contractors, Operations and Maintenance. This position will direct internal resources (not direct reports) through the execution of projects that they are responsible for. Additionally, in this position you will: Ensure the Contractors are following the Vale Contractor Safety, Health and Environment Program. Lead and/or participate in project related incident and accident investigations, manage corrective actions and ensure actions are sustainable for future projects. Accountable for monitoring quality performance and commissioning on a project level. Evaluate engineering and construction proposals and designs and make recommendations as required. Coordinate input/interface between all required internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure successful delivery of projects. Coordinate communication between project sponsor, the project team, and other stakeholders, to ensure all project objectives are clearly defined and achieved. Assist in the resolution of engineering and scheduling problems and conflicts with construction and/or procurement as required. Accountable for cost performance at a project level. Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) required. Experience A minimum of 8 years experience in a similar role within a mining or industrial environment. Skills Demonstrated experience coordinating activities for a project or cross-functional team. Excellent communication skills. Competency in directing engineering and technical resources. Demonstrated project management knowledge and skills.
