Type: 1 Year Term Closing Date: February 18, 2026 The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Environment, Health and Safety, the Environmental and Safety Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) plans and programs that meet or exceed applicable legislation, reduce risk, and support corporate sustainability. Responsibilities include: Develop, implement, and maintain environmental and OHS plans, programs and procedures that are compliant with applicable legislation, and align with industry best practices, certifications and/or accreditations; Develop, research, and maintain environmental and OHS guidelines, requirements, best management practices, and manuals; Conduct environmental reviews and impact assessments; Support the development of environmental and OHS policies and strategies; Develop and implement hazard prevention programs and contractor safety programs; Monitor and maintain environmental and OHS mitigation measures to ensure their integrity, effectiveness and suitability; Conduct audits and inspections to identify findings and non-conformances, and develop and implement related corrective action and preventative action plans; Act as a resource to, and ensure that the WAA OHS Committee exceeds compliance with applicable OHS legislation; Utilize software and systems to collect, compile, interpret and analyze data; Prepare environmental and OHS summary and regulatory reports as required; Selection Criteria include: Graduate from a post-secondary institution, specializing in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, specializing in OHS, or related studies; Minimum of 5 years'' combined work experience in an environmental and/or OHS position; Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is an asset; Experience in environmental and OHS monitoring, audits and investigations; Experience with technical writing and development of plans and procedures; Proficient knowledge of environmental and OHS legislation, compliance and environmental management systems; Knowledge of impacted and contaminated sites management; Knowledge of construction environmental and safety management; Ability to interpret design drawings; Strong organizational and problem solving skills; Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail; Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills; Excellent record keeping ability; Airport-related experience and project management experience would be considered an asset; Advanced technology skills using Microsoft Office and database applications; A valid class 5 driver''s license.
