Position: Design ArchitectDuration:12-month assignment (long term contract)Client Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid: 8 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)Note on Assignment TypeThis position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 8 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.About the EngagementAkkodis is seeking a Design Architect to provide design and construction support across multiple ongoing projects and programs. The Design Architect will report to the Chief Architect and collaborate closely with engineering team members, internal staff, and external consultants, as required.Assignment DeliverablesDirecting and checking the work of Technologist, Design Draftspersons, and any other support staff assigned;Gathering information in both field and office;Preparing code compliance review related to new and existing facilities;Developing technical design reports, including schematic and preliminary designs;Managing design work according to approved work plans;Developing and preparing full contract documentation, acting as design lead where assigned;Checking and signing documentation where appropriate, and where required;Performing site reviews, and submitting reports as required by permit and code;Providing construction support, including review of shop drawings and contract submittals;Conducting regular field reviews, preparing deficiency reports;Coordinating the preparation and justification for anticipated contract changes;Providing support to Operations as required and as assigned;Providing support for updates to Standards, as assigned;Conducting design and development reviews:Reviewing and commenting on design and technical documents prepared by consultants and the Engineering Department;Reviewing development proposals on an as-needed basis for impact on standards.Maintaining registration with the OAA.Expertise RequiredMust Have:A university degree in Architecture, combined with at least 15+ years of work experience in complex multi-disciplinary projects.Registration with the Ontario Association of Architects as a Licensed Architect is mandatory.ImportantThis is a business-to-business engagement.
