Health & Safety Coordinator Janin Atlas, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets, part of the VINCI Group, is hiring a Health & Safety Coordinator. What is the project? The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deepwater intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. The scope includes: 5 kmlong tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15m diameter slurry) Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore) An offshore modular intake structure resting on the lake bed The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination. What you will do Ensure the implementation and monitoring of health and safety standards across all phases of the project, guaranteeing compliance with local regulations, corporate policies, and nuclear site requirements. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the Health & Safety Management Plan for the project Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for tunneling, shaft construction, and offshore works Monitor compliance with safety procedures and legal requirements onsite Coordinate safety training programs for all personnel and subcontractors Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions Liaise with project management, engineering teams, and client representatives to ensure safety integration in planning and execution Prepare and present regular safety reports and KPIs to management Ensure emergency preparedness and response plans are in place and tested Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering Minimum 6 years of experience in Health & Safety roles on large infrastructure projects Proven experience in tunneling or underground works, preferably with TBM operations Experience working on projects with highrisk environments (nuclear, offshore, or similar) Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Familiarity with safety management systems and incident reporting tools Strong leadership and communication skills High attention to detail and proactive approach to problemsolving Demonstrated practical knowledge of current health and safety legislation What we have to provide 4 vacation weeks & 3 emergency/sickness days paid Group Health Insurance (premium participation including virtual health care system) Wellness spending account Monthly public transportation participation Cosmopolitan and inclusive work environment Attractive and challenging project About Janin Atlas Subsidiary of the VINCI Group, Janin Atlas is involved in largescale construction and civil engineering projects in Canada.
