Theyll serve as powerful motivation for others, in Calgary and across the nation, to make their own changes for life.RoleAs a Camp Lead, your role will begin with an extensive training session to understand and uphold the values, expectations and customer service standards of Vivo. As the Camp Lead & Mentor you are responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of the day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Active for Life Coordinator for Vivo camps. The camp lead will be responsible for ensuring camp leaders and volunteers are delivering quality camp experiences through constant communication and evaluation. You will create and connect with our customers, community, employees and volunteers in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause. The camp lead will assist in re-imagining, overseeing, sustaining and evolving aspects of the camp offerings and bring Vivos lifestyle brand to life. Developing accountability and capacity in the camps team is essential in order to deliver strong results and impact of our camp vision: Play + Explore + Connect.Hours: 8 hours per week on Camp planning/Scheduling starting February 2026Hours: 40 hours per week, starting May 2026 to early SeptemberReports to: Active for Life Coordinator ResponsibilitiesGenuinely understand and reflect Vivos values and mission into each camp experienceActively engage in Camp Lead training lead by your direct supervisorAssist your direct supervisor with the delivery and evaluation of the onboarding and orientation of camp leaders through the facilitation of a 35-hour Vivo Instructor training session and contributing to quality feedback to improve future training opportunitiesCreate a welcoming and supportive environment for camp leaders and volunteersCreate and maintain staff schedules for the camp teamProgram the camps including games, activities, modifications, and free play opportunities, bringing in guest, organizing fieldtrips, connecting with the communityEnsure programming execution occurs above and beyond best practicesEngage in camps daily by remaining accessible and visible to parents, children, and camp leadersAssist the camp leaders during off-site field trips and ensuring the utmost safety of campers, staff, and volunteersObserve camps daily to ensure that Vivo values are being upheld throughout the delivery of campsAssist camp leaders with any day-to-day issues and create and implement effective solutionsParticipate in evaluating camp leaders, volunteers, and camp experiences by providing regular verbal and written feedback and report feedback to direct supervisorLead weekly debriefs with the camp team and report back to your direct supervisorPerform camp administration duties including:Support the management of waitlists and enrolments for campsAssist leaders and families with the completion of necessary forms and e-forms on the first day of camp including: talent release form, field trip forms and safety waiver formsAssist the camp leaders with the sign in/sign out process for campsComplete weekly inventory of equipment and suppliesComplete any accident and injury reports through Safety CultureFacilitate communications with families, staff, campers, and direct supervisorRespond to parent/guardian concerns in a professional mannerConsult Culture & People and supervisors to report any repetitive disciplinary or performance issues of the camp teamDemonstrate an upbeat, approachable and engaging personality to create a sense of community in campsLead and provide clear direction and expectations to the camp leaders and volunteers on roles and responsibilitiesDemonstrate a high standard of supervision, risk assessment, Vivos best practices, and duty of care within the camps by actively maintaining health and safety standards, first aid incidents, and equipment inventory of first aid kitsAssist the Active for Life Coordinator with the development, implementation, and measurement of spontaneous play in the campsFoster an active, social, inclusive and engaging learning environment for children and familiesSeek direction, ask questions and engage in meaningful dialogue with direct supervisor and fellow team members.When needed, the camp lead will support the ratio of the camp to ensure safety, well-being and quality programming are executed while in compliance with standards.Camp employees must formally authorize another qualified staff member to act on their behalf during their absences from camp. If the Active for Life Coordinator is unavailable the School & Camps Manager will be onsite and, in their absence, the General Manager will be available. Safety Warden will also be onsite for emergency support.QualificationsCurrent Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C/AED certificationsA valid Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the past 2 months upon hireLegal adult age to comply with the Alberta Camping Association AccreditationPassion for exploration, creativity, funMinimum degree/certificate or currently studying in the field of physical literacy/child development studies/ physical education/kinesiology/educationKnowledge and Experience camping, nature, street safety and art will be considered an assetStrong written and verbal communicationMinimum 2 years experience, instructing or volunteering with children's programs.
