Our client, an employee-owned, environmental consulting company providing leading-edge services to mining, hydropower, wind energy, oil & gas, and government regulatory agencies, is seeking a Junior/Intermediate Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeological Engineer to join their Vancouver team. This is a permanent, full-time role, paying $80k-$130k, depending on experience, plus group benefits, RRSP matching and a competitive vacation package. In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct hydrogeologic evaluations on both local, national, and international projects. The team you will be joining is comprised of over 40 scientists and engineers practicing in the fields of hydrogeology, geochemistry, hydrology, climate science, surface water quality, biological services, and oceanography. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: Development of hydrogeological characterization (i.e., drilling and hydraulic testing) programs to assess environmental risks at mine and construction sites. Installation, monitoring, and sampling of groundwater monitoring systems using methods suitable to the location, climatic conditions, groundwater depth, recharge rate, and well dimensions. Compilation, tabulation, plotting, analysis, and interpretation of hydrogeological data sets for presentation in technical reports, memoranda, and oral presentations. Perform quality assurance/control on data and liaise with analytical labs, field staff and/or technical staff to identify and resolve issues. Perform both conceptual and quantitative groundwater assessments to determine receiving environment impacts, identify source areas and design remedial measures. Communicate study results orally or in technical reports to various stakeholders including clients, government regulators, indigenous groups, and other team members. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE: Minimum of EITHER the following degree and work experience: o Bachelors degree in Earth Sciences or Engineering Applied Science from a university in good standing plus minimum two years relevant experience (five plus years preferred) in hydrogeology Must have foundational coursework in hydrogeology and relevant experience, OR: o Masters or doctoral degree in hydrogeology without minimum work experience (though two to five years experience would be an asset) Solid foundation in geology and hydrogeologic principles, including but not limited to: o Installing groundwater monitoring systems and collecting hydrogeologic data. o Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting groundwater and environmental study results. Must have or be immediately eligible for Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) / Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) / Engineer in Training (EIT) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. Excellent written and oral communication skills for interfacing with team members with diverse technical backgrounds as well as clients, collaborating consultants, and other stakeholders. ASSETS BENEFICIAL FOR THIS ROLE: Environmental consulting experience, especially in the resource industry and mining sector. Advanced Excel skills and experience with hydrogeological testing interpretation software (Aqtesolv or other). Experience coordinating, implementing, and supervising field programs. Drilling supervision Installation of monitoring wells, thermistor strings, vibrating wire piezometers Packer testing Pump testing Slug testing Familiarity with hydrogeological concepts and best practices, as well as relevant statutes and regulations.
