About the opportunity: Working on our butter line, assist the Production Manager, Processing with the financial results of the facility while actively being engaged in the support of production, health and safety and the direction of staff. Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of production, in addition to the related departments consistent with company objectives. Maximize product quality, production yield, and control of expenses, as defined in the budget and promote a focus on a healthy and safe working environment. The Technical Manager Processing will assist the Production Manager Processing with all major improvement projects by coordinating with corporate engineering and suppliers. Manage projects (capital, cost savings and CI) and championing process improvements and increase efficiencies of the team. The attributes we are looking for: Oversee the diverse line of processing products with respect to their processing, raw materials, and quality parameters to meet the customers needs. Provide technical direction to manufacturing and R&D teams to improve or correct product quality. Measure, analyze and execute corrective actions for safety, quality and efficiency. Plan and execute production and labour schedules to produce the required volume ensuring that measures are met including cost control, within specification and quality requirements including HACCP, QMS, and customer requirements. Assist with customer projects in the processing products line by providing technical support to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, R & D, Engineering and Packaging functional teams and acting as liaison between Sales and the customers. Provide technical support for processing projects and the processing business. Collaborate to develop policies and procedures for new and ongoing implementations in processing. Responsible for auditing and documenting non-compliance and works to ensure we meet the needs/requirements of QMS, GFSI and Lactalis. Provide leadership and supervision to staff by hiring, reviewing performance and providing feedback, determining training and development needs, and providing coaching and work direction. Promote a team focus on excellence in all activities including those required to support safety, operational productivity, quality, loss reduction, people development, and cost improvement. Propose technical and organizational improvements to his or her line management. Be involved in trials (machines, products, processes etc.). Ensures that the plant is in compliance with Federal and Provincial regulatory requirements. Focuses on ensuring that recoveries and product yields are maximized, while the quality of all products produced are at the highest level possible. Support plant and corporate objectives by developing, communicating, and executing annual goals and strategies. Assist the Production Manager Processing to complete CAPEX preparations, savings plan and budget preparations. Assist the Dairy Food (Ingredients) Group with continuous improvement (CI) and return on investment (ROI) projects by providing technical support, generating reports to track progress, and providing follow up. Influence plants to take positive action and accountability for their assigned CI & ROI targets and objectives related to established projects. Ensure that all legislative requirements and environmental standards are met and results reported to appropriate parties (internal & external). What you will bring: College diploma or University degree preferably in Engineering, Food Science or Biochemistry. Five (5) to Seven (7) years experience in production leadership position in manufacturing, preferably dairy, including experience in improving plant performance and developing organizations and people. Ability to implement best practices in operations management. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills. Knowledge of high-speed filling, packaging equipment and processing systems. Knowledge of CIP processes, SAP or automation systems. Knowledge of Kaizen and SMED concepts. Proficient with standard office computer technology like the Microsoft Office, Power BI and business systems such as SAP. Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel. Effective verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills. Understanding of food ingredient technology and food regulations. Knowledge of dairy sciences. Good communicator, listener and presenter. Ability to adapt to changing culture/environments. Ability to liaise with senior members of the organization. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to imposed deadlines. Leadership, planning and execution skills including strong communication and organizational skills. Financial and budgetary skills. Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
