WMS staff are caring, capable professionals who work collaboratively to support the WMS Statement of Faith and the overall mission and values of the school.Position SummaryReporting to the Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer and supported by the Assistant Business Manager, the Business Manager provides senior leadership and oversight for the financial, human resources, and physical property assets of Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School Inc.This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and professional excellence across the organization, while upholding the Christian values and mission of WMS.Key Areas of ResponsibilityFinancial Leadership and AdministrationProvide senior leadership and management of all financial aspects of WMS, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Ensure the highest level of efficiency, accountability, and financial stewardship.Serve as a signatory on WMS financial accounts.Prepare and present financial reports to the WMS Board as required.Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring office systems, including financial software.Work with staff, administrators, and the WMS Board Finance Committee to develop and monitor the annual budget.Manage investments and cash flow in consultation with the WMS Board Finance Committee.Governance and Board SupportAttend Board meetings as required.Serve as an ex-officio member of the WMS Board Operations, Bursary, and Finance Committees.Provide financial and accounting advice to Parents Associations as required.Human Resources and Staff SupervisionEnsure employment contracts are accurately prepared and executed.Provide supervision and support for the Assistant Business Manager and WMS janitorial staff at both sites.Support employee relations and human resource functions in collaboration with school leadership.Facilities, Operations, and ComplianceIn cooperation with the Superintendent/CEO, manage physical plant operations, capital improvements, and purchasing.Monitor and ensure adequate liability and property insurance coverage.Manage school busing services in cooperation with the Superintendent/CEO.Submit annual September 30 enrollment data to Manitoba Education.Liaise with the Manitoba Schools Finance Branch regarding financial matters and required reporting.QualificationsFinancial training and experience sufficient to manage all aspects of school finances and oversee accounting and financial record keeping.Experience and ability in employee relations and human resources.Demonstrated leadership ability with strong organizational skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and the broader school community.Self-motivated and bondable.Clear Manitoba Child Abuse Registry Check.Compensation and Work ArrangementCompensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
