ABOUT THE ROLE This position is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and control of operational projects and activities related to linear infrastructure, as well as inspecting, coordinating and providing technical expertise on construction projects affecting the function of Regional infrastructure from planning and preconstruction to final acceptance of work undertaken by area municipalities, owners, developers and contractors in accordance with approved engineering drawings, specifications, standards, contracts, bylaws, agreements and Regional policies. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Coordinates the planning, implementation and oversight of projects and programs impacting the function of linear infrastructure. Obtains input and coordinates activities with other Operational Areas, Branches and Departments of the Region as required. Identifies issues and consults with key stakeholders to develop options and select and implement the most appropriate solutions. Tracks, monitors, follows-up and ensures completion of outstanding work, deficiencies and warranty items. Monitors performance of consultants and contractors through regular inspection of municipal and development projects, ensuring compliance of approved contract documents, specifications, legislation, schedules, agreements, and Regional policies. Provides instructions regarding correction of deficiencies; recommends stop work orders and immediate compliance, if necessary. Negotiates and recommends the approval of construction changes for methods, equipment and material substitutions, design changes and release of holdbacks. Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Successful completion of a Community College Diploma Program in Civil or Municipal Engineering Technology or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three (3) years of municipal water/wastewater servicing construction and design experience. Sound practical knowledge in the design, construction and operations of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. Working knowledge of the Ministry Traffic Safety Regulations and Manual. Knowledge of municipal planning process, development application approvals and land surveying. Knowledge of legal documentation including development agreements, encroachment agreements, deeds, etc. Effective problemsolving and organizational skills. Ability to review, interpret and critique technical reports and engineering drawings. Demonstrated ability in the Regions leadership/& core competencies. Intermediate skills in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS), virtual platforms and MS Office Suite including the use of virtual platforms for conducting meetings and/or presentations. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of internal and external stakeholders while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships. Strong report writing, research, analytical and presentation skills and work to tight deadlines. Strong ability to develop relationships and work in a welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential. Ability to work independently and with teams and with ability to manage competing priorities. Valid Ontario Class G drivers license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
