TEMPORARY PART-TIME (Multiple Openings) Position: Science Camp Leaders Reports to: Experiential Learning Manager, Camps Science World is a mission-based, charitable organization that supports the development of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design and Math) literacy across British Columbia. Our plan is to ensure that people throughout British Columbia, especially under-represented communities, have access to high quality, informal STEAM learning. Through our onsite, online and outreach programs, Science World seeks to spark curiosity and wonder in STEAM and support development of talent across communities in the province. Position Description: Our Science Camp programs run year-round for elementary school-aged students. Working closely with the Camps Manager, Camps Program Specialist and Camps Coordinator, you will help to deliver STEAM based camp programs in a workshop-style setting and facilitate fantastic Science World experiences, such as gallery visits, center stage shows and up close demonstrations You will also be responsible for the shared supervision of a group of up to 20 campers, with a co-leader and youth volunteer. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and inspiring camp leaders to deliver our Spring Break Camps, which will follow the theme: Good Vibrations (The Science of Sound and Light We are recruiting for the following camps: Little Wonders Camp (K & Grade1) Bright Sparks Camp (Grade 2 & Grade 3) Curious Creators Camp (Grade 4 & Grade 5) Future Innovators Camp (Grade 6,7 & 8) Science Camp Leaders are usually placed with one age group for the duration of the season; however they may be required to work across different age groups as per the needs of the program. Key Responsibilities: Learn and deliver a series of themed workshops and activities. Contribute your own style and ideas to enhance existing programming Work with a co-leader and volunteers as a cohesive team Develop positive relationships with, mentor and evaluate Jr Camp Leaders Manage and supervise groups of up to 20 children per week through various activities Exercise good judgement in independently managing minor behavior/welfare concerns and escalating when appropriate Deliver scientific concepts in a clear, concise manner Lead various science activities, demonstrations and group games Ensure the safety of the campers by enforcing safety rules and regulations Communicate with caregivers about campers experience in the program Modelling and adhering to the policies in our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan Responsibly manage camper data Operate within the philosophy, culture and values of Science World Perform other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role Qualifications: Must enjoy working exclusively with children for prolonged time periods Preference for staff with strong customer service skills Individuals must have a keen interest in and good understanding of science Knowledge of working with elementary school aged children and their caregivers Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential Must be responsible, reliable and self-motivated Previous experience supervising children, preferably in a camp setting Previous experience delivering programming or workshops would be beneficial Availability: Availability requirements vary based on seasons of camp. Please see below for details about Spring Break Camps: Science Camp Orientation (External Candidates only) - March 9 Spring Camp Training (All Leaders) March 10,11,12,13 Spring Camp Session 1 March 16,17,18,19,20 Spring Camp Session 2 March 23,24,25,26,27 Camp Wrap March 30 Must be available to work Monday to Friday, with shift times and lengths that may vary but typically take place between 8:30-5pm, for the entire duration of camp training/delivery/wrap from March 9 to March 30, 2026 (Sat/Sun weekends off). This is a unionized position represented by CUPE 1004. The compensation rate is $22.38/hour.
