Job Description Our client, a leading educational institution in Halifax is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their dedicated finance team. This is a contract role with a strong potential to transition into a permanent position , ideal for a skilled individual keen to grow their leadership and technical accounting experience as part of a strong team. Key Responsibilities for the Job: Assist in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll/benefits, and general ledger activities Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy Collaborate with senior leadership on financial reporting and strategic initiatives Experience & Attributes for Success: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or other related field, coupled with 3 - 5 years'' of full cycle accounting experience CPA designation (completed or in progress) strongly preferred Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Proactive and outgoing demeanor with the ability to partner effectively with operational teams Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, multi-company environment Excellent communication skills to present financial information clearly to all stakeholders If interested in this opportunity, please apply online by clicking the Apply Now button.
