If you are looking for an innovative work environment where you work with great people and truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you The Opportunity The Poultry Research Technician will assist in both poultry research and laboratory operations to support the advancement of agricultural and animal science projects. The role demands teamwork and collaboration across departments, ensuring that high standards of research and quality are maintained. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in both field and laboratory environments are essential. Your Impact Poultry Research Assist in experiment set up and preparing experimental feed Day to day animal care includes feeding, checking bird and flock health, animal handling, and timely removal of deceased birds Assist in maintenance and cleaning of poultry research unit and equipment as assigned Assist in data collection including weighing live birds, weighing and distribution of feed, preparing birds for processing, collecting biological samples, yield and meat quality information Laboratory Work Receiving, logging and storing QA/QC samples Support operation-related maintenance and housekeeping of the lab and testing equipment Analyzing different enzyme activities received from feed samples Occasionally, preparing pilot batches of different products to be sent abroad Sending samples to different labs for special tests. Assist in the startup of new analyses as they are developed. Execute projects in collaboration with the Lab team Your Experience, Skills & Education Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Diploma from an Alberta Institution in chemistry, biology, food science or related field. Previous poultry/farm equipment experience is preferred, but not required Ability to learn quickly and work in a priority driven environment Microsoft Office Skills, knowledge of Google Docs, Google sheets will be an asset Ability to work both in a team as well as independently High accuracy and attention to detail Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills Deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Work Conditions Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions Exposure to all seasonal weather conditions Exposure to typical poultry barn conditions including airborne dust, feathers, manure, ammonia gas up to 25 ppm and humidity up to 100%. Significant amount of bending, twisting, stooping, lifting (up to 25kg), and walking daily.
