Systems Engineering Halifax, NS, Montreal, QC, Ottawa, ON 18423BR About the role The candidate will be involved in the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Program, providing leadership to the CSC Team during the development of the River Class Destroyer (RCD) Warship Design and Implementation. This is an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead position which will require frequent interface with both internal and external program leadership, other IPTs, and Cross Product Teams (CPT). This role is seen as not only being critical to the successful execution of the CSC Program, but the successful candidate will also play a significant role in helping shape relationships with the customer and sub-contractor teams during transition from Warship design to implementation/production in support of the CSC build program. The candidate will operate in a fast-paced, customer-facing, multi-disciplined environment and will be responsible for the Under Water Warfare IPT. The candidate will perform all UWW IPT leadership duties including, but not limited to: Lead and manage the UWW IPT Responsible for Technical Performance, Cost and Schedule Ensure timely and proper delivery of Technical Data Packages Daily communication and coordination with the technical leadership, Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI), Warship Designer (BAE), and System OEMs, as required Perform technical oversight of Major Subcontractors Liaise with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical and programmatic issues in support of the CSC design Make decisions and provide guidance to the team to support priorities and program needs Support resolution of technical issues with the customer and Warship Designer Management and tracking of team day-to-day activities in JIRA Supporting system and platform integration activities, including interface design Support Engineering Change Proposals (CPs), Basis of Estimates (BOEs), cost and schedule impact assessments, and business rhythm activities Support/implement initiatives to improve team operations and efficiencies Maintenance of a high standard of professional excellence, organization and communication Share lessons learned with peers and co-workers across the organization. What you bring to the role Degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering, Marine Systems Engineering and/or Naval Architect or similar domain 7-10 years combined technical and management experience in a naval engineering role or major naval shipbuilding program 5+ years'' experience in design and integration Knowledge in Under Water Warfare Sensors and Effectors (e.g. Sonars, Torpedos, etc) Demonstrated ability to oversee large Subcontractors Demonstrated capability to perform well in challenging or ambiguous situations to meet milestones Strong leadership and relationship-building skills Strong relationship-building skills Strong communication and writing skills Strong knowledge of JIRA Aptitude for providing technical guidance and solving challenging problems Works well individually or in a team environment Ability to acquire North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Security clearance. Additional skills desired for the role CSC/RCD Experience with a strong understanding of the Program priorities and scope Demonstrated Change Management excellence Technical Support of Procurement Activities Experience in a shipyard environment Experience in Risk Management Knowledge of Systems Engineering Knowledge of requirements management using Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) (IBM Rational) Professional Engineer Certification. Language Requirements in Quebec Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
