Financial Accountant. Westcan Bulk Transport Location: Edmonton The Kenan Advantage Group Inc., (KAG), is North America''s largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our Canadian Operating companies are Westcan Bulk Transport, RTL Construction, Les Distributions Carl Beaulac, and Fisher Transport KAG Canada The Financial Accountant would play a key role in the performance of day to day accounting practices as well as assist with month-end reconciliations and closing entries. This is a comprehensive role that requires a solid understanding of all aspects of accounting and the ability to work with large volumes of data from a variety of systems. The ideal candidate would be able to work independently and possess exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position reports directly to the Vice President Finance, and works closely with other members of the Accounting Department in order to support their functions as necessary. About the position: Assisting in the preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations Assisting with variance analysis of both the Income Statement and Balance Sheet Providing support in all financial areas, including A/P, A/R, CapEx, and Payroll Acting as a resource for clerical and accounting staff Maintenance of continuity schedules and cash flow forecasts Preparing government remittances and regulatory filings Performing routine system integrations Assisting with interim and year-end audit requirements Performing ad-hoc reporting, analysis and other related duties as required What you bring: 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration an asset Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Experience with Microsoft Office and intermediate level user of Microsoft Excel Ability to work with large volumes of data and effectively summarize data into meaningful information Ability to plan and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills Systems experience including Great Plains accounting and Trimble fleet management software an asset Total Compensation: Competitive wages, company matched RRSP/DPSP savings program, bonus opportunity, scholarships program for employee''s children and referral reward payments up to $2,000 available per successful hire (certain conditions apply) We have a strong culture of teamwork, with a balance of seriousness and fun.
