The Position The Community House Support Worker contributes to the welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment of Lift''s Community House. The role supports individuals and families by providing access to programs, information, nutritious food, and social connection. The Support Worker assists with daily operations, facilitates engagement, and strengthens community belonging through compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally safe interactions. Overview Available Positions: (3) three Job status: Permanent part-time Job title: Support Worker - Community House Hours of Work: 25 hours per week Work site: Community House Date Posted: February 4, 2026 Close Date: February 11, 2026 Hourly wage: $27.92 per hour Reports to: Community Resources Manager Qualifications Grade 12 plus one (1) year of recent related experience in community and family services Experience supporting individuals and families experiencing barriers to participation. Knowledge of community resources and referral processes in qathet region. Experience with group facilitation, family programming, or community kitchens considered an asset. Basic computer skills. Training in trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, or non-violent communication preferred. Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance. . Skills and Assets Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills Active listening and communication skills Experience supporting nutrition and family programming, including basic food preparation, distribution, and wellness education Collaborative team player able to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and community partners Relationship-building skills grounded in respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity Ability to foster community connection Strong organizational skills, including record keeping, attendance tracking, and documentation Working Condition and Physical Requirements Work is primarily based at the Community House. The role involves periods of standing, light lifting, and basic facility upkeep. May occasionally involve outdoor programming, evening, or weekend work. Interactions may include individuals experiencing distress or sharing sensitive personal experiences; the ability to respond with calm, respect, and professionalism is essential.
