Position Summary: The Extrusion Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the Extrusion Department. This role is critical in delivering consistent output, maintaining world-class safety and housekeeping standards, driving disciplined execution, and fostering continuous improvement through strong leadership, Lean principles, and clear accountability at all levels. The Extrusion Supervisor is accountable for resultsnot just activities. Key responsibilities include achieving targets for output, quality, cost, safety, employee engagement, and equipment performance. Key Accountabilities 1. Safety, Health & Housekeeping (Non-Negotiable) Establish and enforce zero-tolerance standards for health, safety, sanitation, and housekeeping. Ensure full compliance with all company safety policies, WSIB requirements, and regulatory standards. Lead by example through visible floor presence and active safety leadership. Conduct regular safety walks, audits, and toolbox talks; ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained. Own incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action closure. Ensure all extrusion areas meet 5S standards at all timesnot ''before audits''. 2. Production Performance & Optimization Ensure a steady, predictable flow of production: right product, right quantity, right quality, right time. Deliver production plans on time and within budget, in close coordination with Production Scheduling. Optimize OEE, uptime, yield, scrap, changeover performance, and labor utilization. Proactively identify constraints, bottlenecks, and lossesand drive countermeasures. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all production records and ERP transactions. Actively participate in R&D and process trials where required. 3. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing principles across extrusion operations. Develop, standardize, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all extrusion processes. Lead structured problem-solving (root cause analysis, corrective actions, standardization). Drive waste elimination in material usage, labor, downtime, rework, and motion. Partner with Maintenance to align preventive maintenance schedules with production needs. Ensure improvements are documented, trained, and audited for sustainability. 4. Quality Ownership Build quality into the processnot inspect it in later. Ensure raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods meet Laminacorr specifications. Maintain compliance with all Quality Management System requirements. Lead internal quality audits and corrective action plans. Ensure extrusion documentation supports traceability, repeatability, and compliance. 5. Leadership, Accountability & People Development Set clear expectations, standards, and consequences for performance at all levels. Provide active coaching, performance management, and development of Lead Hands and operators. Hold employees accountable through structured feedback, corrective action, and recognition. Ensure all employees are properly trained, certified, and capable of executing their roles safely and effectively. Participate in hiring, discipline, and termination decisions in alignment with company policy. Build engaged, disciplined teams that take ownership of resultsnot just tasks. 6. Inventory & Cost Control In partnership with Inventory Control, maintain appropriate raw material inventory levels. Reduce material losses, scrap, and excess handling. Support cost-reduction initiatives through process improvement and operational discipline. Education & Experience Education Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience. Experience Minimum 3 years in a front-line manufacturing leadership role, preferably in extrusion or high-volume manufacturing. Demonstrated experience driving Lean improvements, safety discipline, and performance accountability. Required Certifications First Aid Certification (preferred; must be willing to obtain). Health & Safety Certification (preferred; must be willing to obtain and maintain). Core Leadership Competencies Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility for outcomes, not excuses. Technical Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of production operations, inventory control, and manufacturing systems. Working experience with ERP systems (Global Shop preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and basic data analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels. Working Conditions Industrial manufacturing environment. Approximately 50% standing, 25% walking, 25% sitting. Regular exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Moderate computer usage required. Hours of Work Minimum 40 hours per week; flexibility required to support production needs. Monday to Friday, 7:30 am 4:30 pm. Overtime required as needed to address production demands, staffing issues, or equipment downtime. One-hour unpaid lunch. Job Type: Full-time
