About the Role The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Officer leads the development, implementation, and ongoing management of SNOLAB''s EH&S program. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating the unique hazards associated with SNOLAB''s underground facility and advanced research operations. The role ensures EH&S policies, processes, and resources are aligned, integrated, and consistent with organizational standards, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices. Education: Bachelor''s degree ina relatedsafety engineering, environmental health, scientificdisciplineor equivalent experience isrequired. Extensiveexperience as a Health and Safety professional. Health and safety designationis consideredastrongasset. Experience: Significant experiencedeveloping and implementingan EH&Smanagement system.This includes but is not limited topolicies, procedures, processes, safety audits, hazard identification, assessment and controls,training andincident management. Significant experienceproviding leadershipand direction on emergency preparedness and response, industrial hygiene, fireprotection, accidentprevention,andWSIB. Experience in evaluating risks and hazards in complex engineering or science-based systems. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders while working collaboratively within an integrated organizational environment Experience leading and managing a team including scheduling, hiring,trainingand managing performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation and WSIB requirements, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance in complex operational environments Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain effective Health and Safety programs that ensure compliance and foster a positive culture of safety. Strong expertise in compliance and regulatory matters, with the ability to develop and execute strategies that meet legislative obligations and organizational standards. Skilled in leading, coaching, and mentoring team members to support professional development, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the workplace. Proficient in root cause analysis, statistical evaluation, incident investigations, and reporting to inform decision-making and improve safety outcomes.
