By leveraging innovative capsule-based sampling technology, we enable liquid biopsies that target the small intestine, enhancing understanding and diagnosis of intestinal health conditions. We are seeking a motivated Clinical Laboratory Director to oversee the launch of an innovative metagenomics profiling test. Nimble Science is based in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Role summary Supported by an experienced team, including a Laboratory Manager and Quality Manager; you will play a key role in providing professional mentorship, high level regulatory stewardship as well as serving as the Clinical Laboratory Director of Record. The role is initially set as a part time position ideal for a senior professional interested in leading new frontiers in diagnostic care, or an early professional looking to grow their career. As a scaling company, the opportunity exists to transition the role to a full-time leadership role. Responsibility Snapshot Regulatory Stewardship: Act as the named Director for the CPSA Diagnostic Laboratory Accreditation Program. Your primary task is to review and sign off on the Quality Management System (QMS) framework maintained by the Quality Manager. Scientific Advisory: Approve the clinical support for the validation of the SIMBA Capsule metagenomic pipeline, providing authority on the clinical significance of luminal microbial biomarkers. Formal Delegation: Utilize the CPSAs delegation protocols to formally assign operational, technical, and quality duties to the Lab Manager and Quality Manager, ensuring they have the authority to maintain standards under your oversight. Clinical Consultation: Be available on an ''''as-needed'''' basis to discuss complex metagenomic findings with referring Gastroenterologists or to provide guidance on clinical report interpretations. Quarterly Audit Review: Conduct quarterly reviews of lab performance metrics and proficiency testing (EQA) results to ensure continued compliance with the quality management system. Required Skills and Experience Credential: PhD with FCCM (Fellowship in the Canadian College of Microbiologists) OR MD with FRCPC (Pathology/Microbiology). Eligibility: Must be eligible for registration as a Laboratory Director with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Experience: Previous experience as a Lab Director or Assistant Director in a clinical setting is preferred. Knowledge of NGS or microbiome science is a significant asset but can be supplemented by the internal bioinformatics team.
