Job Description

Title: Technical Analyst Department: Highway Operations Location: 6200 Steeles Ave West, Woodbridge Total Potential Compensation: $61,000 - $86,000 Position Summary: The successful candidate will provide maintenance and support for various aspects of the Tolling process covering roadside equipment, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and network communications. Project work will involve system builds and upgrades to ensure the system remains best of breed or better. They will be maintaining devices for data collections systems of vehicles through Vision, Laser Systems and Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) using Radio frequency and tracking for the Tolling system. The ITS will include CCTV, Digital message signs, Traffic signal systems, Cellular Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (CV2X) and Radar systems (included but not limited to). Working at heights over live traffic maintaining, replacing and upgrading as required. Work is also conducted in the Laboratory facility which provides the environment for repair, calibrating and alignment of the Tolling, ITS and network equipment. As well as building and replacing intelligent devices and upgrading Operating Systems and programing network devices. Real-time and predictive degradation tools are used to assist in identifying issues, however, strong analytical skills are required to diagnose and determine root cause. Change management is controlled through a ticketing and database system. Reports and shift logs are required to ensure full identification, asset tracking and writing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, as well as engineering drawing and tables to identify underground cable layouts will be a prerequisite of the position. This is a shift position. The crew follows a 6-week rotating cycle: 5 shifts on 6 days off 4 shifts on 6 days off 4 shifts on 4 days off 4 shifts on 5 days off 5 shifts on. The crew alternates between day and night shifts, with every third shift assigned as a night shift. Primary Responsibilities: Preventative maintenance, inspections and monitoring and installation of new systems Tolling System involves RF, Image and laser systems - 204 sites Intelligent Traffic Systems 203 CCTV 21 DMS Network system 41 nodes -286 switches - 300km Fiber Optic cable and patch panels Continuous power with UPS, DC power plants and Generator Health and Safety Working outside in all weather Working at heights and over live traffic, involving customer safety Preform daily safety checks on PPE Daily safety meetings and risk analysis required and documented Vehicles and equipment check and signoff to MTO standards Roadside closure, work with vendors and OPP to MTO book 7 standards Roadside Realtime Maintenance and Operational Monitoring system (MOM''s SQL db) Monitor and respond to events Replace and repair of all equipment First line response to critical events causing revenue loss Create Ticket for Routine maintenance Change Management of Assets tracking and software upgrades Routine maintenance of all systems Analyze and interpret problems using computer tools & reports proactively to ensure the system is not or has not degraded (Fix before broken) Working with electrical systems with wide range of power systems and feeds ranging from 12, 24, 48 VDC and 110, 220 VAC. Generator hookup 600VAC Fiber Optic diagnostic and repair using the Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and repair using a Fusion Splicer Diagnosing Antenna and cable fault using specialized Spectrum Analysers & Signal Frequency Analysers Pulling and installing cable DC power plants providing continuous power for network equipment during power outages Installation of mobile generators 240vac per site and 600vac per interchange during power outages (600vac units are trailer mounted). Programable Logic Controller (PLC) supporting the environmental conditions for sensitive network equipment Driving special vehicles such as bucket trucks which are a combination workshop and elevated work platform for accessing tolling equipment. Operate boom trucks with minimum 50 ft reach for CCTV Snowplow using pickup trucks as required Work with networking topology documents for patching with switches of the nodes and back offices Warehouse and Laboratory Diagnosing /repair/calibration of all new devices received or returned from the field Work with complex calibration and alignment benches Work with Oscilloscope and signal generators of Direct Short-Range Communication (DSRC) systems (RF) apart of AVI tracking Laser calibration and alignment, 3D modelling for classification between Light and Heavy types for vehicle Closed loop feedback system for roadside servers for proving replacing electronic cards such as CPU, DIO and Serial IO Soldering stations for electronic repairs and builds 3D print parts manufacture and R&D using Solidworks or Autocad software Electronic Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designfor field interface for cable management Asset management and tracking through tagging of equipment and reports New technology LIDAR Classification systems IP based locator antenna systems Image systems for vehicle identification and classification Evaluating new technology Documentation and audits Develop and document Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) Daily reports (creating and responding) MOM''s asset management MTO monthly KPI''s and Audit Knowledge of Schematics and layout documentation Working with approved engineering drawing Understand Civil drawing of underground cable Miscellaneous Working with Windows, Microsoft Office, Office 365, Excel QNX, SFTP and SSH Continually upgrading and advancing due to obsolescence which may involve project work and working with other disciplines Operating Bucket Trucks, Forklift, Pickup with snowplow and vehicles with trailers Manage shift as backup (Vacation and On-Call coverage) Qualifications: 3 years'' College with Electronics/Electrical diploma or equivalent 2 years'' experience in a maintenance technology environment Self-motivated team player Solid hardware knowledge with PCs, mobile computing and peripherals Practical knowledge of operations, electronics and general maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of telecommunication equipment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills Able to work with all manner of hand tools, screwdrivers, wire strippers, socket wrenches, torque wrenches, soldering skills Able to work with minimal supervision on simple to moderately complex tasks Able to work with multidisciplinary teams in a positive and productive manner Ability to effectively deal with high priority unscheduled tasks and problems Valid driver''s license (Full G or DZ preferred) Ability to work independently as well as in a team Lifetime learner We are actively seeking to fill this role as it is a current vacancy.
