Position: Payroll Administrator (Full-Cycle SAP) Location: Mississauga (Hybrid) Salary: $100,000 (Prorated) Job Type: 6-month contract Posting Type: Open vacancy Position Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to manage and coordinate full-cycle payroll activities while ensuring compliance with legislative, collective agreement, and organizational requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining payroll accuracy, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement within the payroll function. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Prioritize, perform, and coordinate full-cycle payroll activities using SAP (required). Input and maintain payroll data for new hires, job changes, terminations, transfers, retroactive pay, allowances, overtime, leaves of absence, and benefits. Prepare and process payroll in accordance with payroll manuals, collective agreements, and People & Culture policies. Audit payroll registers to ensure accuracy and compliance with legislative and collective agreement requirements. Finalize and post payroll with approval, ensuring general ledger entries are accurate and corrected as needed. Generate bank deposit files and reconcile payroll accumulation and control accounts within SAP. Process payroll corrections including tax adjustments, CPP exemptions, pension reinstatements, sick leave, and vacation adjustments. Ensure accuracy of T4 reporting, tax fields, and payroll-related accounts. Compliance & Reporting Ensure payroll processing complies with ESA, CRA, Service Canada requirements, collective agreements, and internal policies. Respond to internal and external audit requests, including year-end and regulatory audits. Support year-end payroll processes, including T4/T4A and T5 preparation. Investigate payroll discrepancies, explain variances, and implement corrective actions. Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency as required. Systems, Projects & Documentation Support SAP payroll and time & attendance system upgrades, implementations, and testing. Participate in system validation, documentation, and process improvements. Assist with payroll contingency planning and disaster recovery. Maintain and update payroll procedures, manuals, and training documentation. Qualifications & Experience 4-6+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, ideally within Energy & Utilities, Construction, or Safety/Regulated environments. Hands-on SAP payroll experience is required. Previous experience working within a unionized environment required. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, deductions, and reporting.
