We are looking for a post graduate of the bee keeping program to tend our hives on a contract basis. We have a sustainable farm that grows 32 varieties of vegetables, in the field and greenhouse, for our award winning restaurant. These bees are an integral part of pollinating the crops we bring to the restaurant and for our private label honey business TheAG Busy Beeapiary has between 2-8 hives that require tending from the beginning of the season until wrap-up in the fall. You would be responsible for every aspect of the health and maintenance of these hives, supply your own tools/transportation and knowledge. Payment is monthly by invoice submitted to the restaurant. This is a great opportunity to start your own business. General responsibilities are as follows: ability to manage up to 6 hives ( I lost a few last season and looking to increase this year back to 8) self sufficient, has own tools/transportation etc end to end management of the hives, install queens/nucs, medication, monthly inspection, proper OMAFRA record keeping, extraction of honey, wrap for winter knowledge of splitting hives to establish new colonies ability to spin frames and extract honey billing on monthly basis for services provided We operate an award winning 2 acre farm here in Niagara Falls that provides us with the freshest produce in Niagara.
