Position Information: Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Vice-President, Facilities provides senior leadership and strategic oversight for the planning, development, and management of physical infrastructure for Durham College and Ontario Tech University through a shared services model. This role ensures the effective operation, maintenance, and optimization of campus facilities and grounds, while guiding long-term strategies for space planning, construction, and sustainability initiatives. The position exists to safeguard institutional assets, support academic and operational priorities, and deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable environments that meet current and future needs. Duties: Strategic Facilities Planning and Space Management Oversight of Facilities Operations and Maintenance Construction and Renovation Project Leadership Budgeting and Financial Oversight Compliance and Risk Management Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement Qualifications: A minimum of a 4-year Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering; professional engineering license required Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation Expertise in facilities management, building systems, and infrastructure operations Advanced knowledge of construction project management, including contract administration and consultant coordination Proficiency in building codes, fire codes, safety regulations, and other compliance standards Strong understanding of energy management, sustainability practices, and space planning principles Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for campus facilities and capital projects Advanced skills in budget development and financial oversight for large-scale operations and capital projects Well-developed communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills Please note this posting is for an existing vacancy.
