Make your mark while you grow your career Diversify and accelerate your career as a professional Geotechnical Design, Construction and Reporting Engineer with Canadian Natural''s Albian Mine Geotechnical Engineering and Design teams. Canadian Natural''s Geotechnical teams provide in-house technical, professional, and engineering leadership to support mining operations at the Albian Oil Sands asset. This role is responsible for producing design, construction and performance monitoring solutions for mine earth structures including tailings containment dams, pit walls, waste dumps, and other civil infrastructure. You will be expected to progress into the role of Designer of Record and/or Engineer of Record, as described by the Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive. Job location:Calgary, Alberta or Albian Oil Sands (as needed by the business) Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday, Calgary-based) 4 days on, 3 days off (Monday to Thursday, Albian-based) Safety sensitive position: Yes Application deadline: February 19, 2026 Key Accountabilities: Perform geotechnical engineering designs for mine earth structures, including tailings containment dams, pit walls, waste dumps, and other civil infrastructure Support the planning and execution of geotechnical drilling programs Complete regular inspections of operating and under construction structures Work with the Engineer of Record and Designer of Record to support design, construction execution, and performance monitoring Perform the duties of a resident engineer under the direction of the Engineer of Record for earth structures within an active oil sand mine Perform regular assurance focused site inspections, including survey checks, fill placements, stakeholder engagements, and performance evaluations Prepare as-build records/performance reports for earth structures and engage stakeholders to review results and actions based on findings Plan, implement, and assess instrumentation programs to monitor performance of earth structures and pit wall slopes Prepare geotechnical engineering documents to support submissions for regulatory authorizations Contribute to the preparation of Annual Performance Review reports Contribute to work standards, procedures, and guidelines for the Albian Dam Safety Management Systems and governance programs What You Bring to the Role: Bachelor''s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering;Master''s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA is required 5 plus yearsof design and construction experience in operational or consulting environment Experience in oil sands mining is preferred Highly capablewith Microsoft Office tools, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, GeoStudio, and other geotechnical engineering design or analysis software What We Offer: Competitive salary, stock options, company matched stock savings plan, annual bonuses 100% Employer paid extended Health, Dental and Vision Benefits May be eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural''s Relocation Policy May be eligible for additional premiums Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta First class camp facilities Health & Wellness Spending Account Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Employee & Family Assistance Program Check out ourCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS to learn more about what we have to offer We are proud to be ranked as one of Forbes'' Canada''s Best Employersin 2025.
