For more information about the Ministry of Forestry and Parks, please visit our website at: Role Responsibilities The Municipal Legislative Services Advisor provides expert support in legislative administration, governance practices, and Council operations within the Kananaskis Improvement District (KID). This role leads and supports a wide range of legislative, communication, and governance activities to ensure effective municipal operations, legislative compliance, and strong organizational practices. Key Responsibilities include: Managing legislative and governance services, including preparing Council meeting packages, materials, procedures, and governance resources. Providing Municipal Clerk functions, including drafting procedural documents and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and governance standards. Developing Council related briefing materials, correspondence, and resources to support informed decision making. Coordinating administrative and governance related priorities, tracking action items, and monitoring progress on municipal initiatives. Drafting communication materials and coordinating responses to legislative and governance related inquiries. Supporting strategic and regulatory initiatives, including coordinating bylaws, researching legislative requirements, and analyzing regulations or ministerial orders. Assisting with onboarding and ongoing support for Councillors on legislative and governance matters. Supporting annual business and operational planning, grant reporting, and performance measurement activities. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in the following areas: Alberta municipal legislation, including but not limited to the Municipal Government Act, Local Authorities Election Act, Provincial Parks Act, Public Lands Act, Alberta Land Stewardship Act, Weed Control Act, and Disaster Management Act. Legislative and regulatory processes, including drafting, analyzing, and interpreting bylaws, policies, ministerial orders, and related documents. Municipal governance operations, such as Council procedures, permitting processes, grant reporting, financial cycles, and contracting procedures. Strategic, business, and operational planning principles and performance measurement frameworks. Issues management, conflict mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and public sector communication practices. Familiarity with Kananaskis Country operations, municipal service delivery, and public sector administrative practices. Assets Enrollment in or completion of the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA) program. Experience working within Alberta''s municipal sector or the broader public service environment. Familiarity with the operational context of Kananaskis Country, including Parks Division programs, municipal service delivery models, and regional planning processes. Knowledge of public sector financial management, including grant tracking, reporting processes, and year end municipal financial procedures. Experience with public sector financial practices, including grant administration, financial reporting, and year end municipal accounting procedures. Proficiency in preparing Council materials, drafting bylaws or policies, and interpreting legislation or ministerial orders.
