We are looking for a nanny/special needs aide with experience in childcare, ideally with a background in ECE and experience with ADHD/Autism/trauma informed care/low arousal caregiving approaches. Our eldest is autistic with a PDA profile and requires specialized care that involves a lot of patience, empathy, and a focus on nervous system regulation. We are offering a part time or full-time (30-40 hours/week) live-out position with a rate of $25.00/hour. We need support with childcare and also some light house work (dishes, laundry, meal prep, tidying up). We have had live in au pairs for 3 years and for the past year, a wonderful live out Nanny who is moving on to a new career. We are very familiar with having someone in our home who becomes part of our family! We want someone who is going to love, respect and support our children and their development with their whole heart. The girls are very busy, bright, and active and require a stimulating environment. Freya is currently homeschooled and likes to go on outings to the Zoo, swimming pool and homeschool meet-ups with other kids. As school work feelings demanding and can trigger anxiety, we incorperate learning in all that she does, mostly through play. She likes to do lego and play all kinds of games at home - especially fantasy play with her barbies. Nick and I are great with open, honest and respectful communication and are always happy to share resources and talk to our caregivers about Freya (6) and how to best support her. Freya has a FSCD team that you could have the opportunity of coordinating and working with to gain specialized special needs support/career experience. We really hope to find someone who will become part our/her ''team'' and be very open to employing PDA-friendly approaches to caregiving, even if these are different than what they have done in the past. For example, low-demand, low-arousal and trauma informed care works MUCH better for Freya than classic behavioural strategies. Essentially, she has a nervous system disability that causes her to feel anxious and unsafe in her world and she needs a lot of co-regulation and signals of safety to help get her to a place where she can thrive. Wilma (4) is a very sporty, outdoorsy, sweet and silly girl who loves art, biking, skiing, and playing with her sister. She goes to a lovely preschool south of Calgary that focuses on nature play, art, sensory play, and social/emotional wellbeing. Both girls are receiving support through the PUF program. Wilma gets support in her classroom for transitions (overwhelming), processing time (routines and focus), and positive interactions with peers (some trauma here from sister). She does not struggle with anger, anxiety, or aggression like her sister. It is incredibly important for us to focus on both girls'' safety - physical and mental - which unfortunately can often be a challenge and is the main reason we are seeking support. Our biggest challenge in the home is keeping Wilma safe when Freya has meltdowns or aggressive behaviour. For this reason we try to minimize the time they spend together at home and to provide quality 1-1 care for them. Therefore, you would rarely have both girls at the same time. We have loads of other strategies to support our beautiful neurodivergent kiddos that we would love to share with the right person. Our house has a lot of sensory tools that we try to build into our daily routines. We would like to offer $25.0 hourly to start. We need someone starting in March. We have some flexibility to find a schedule - hours, days, timing that works for us and you. We have two amazing dogs (but don''t require pet care) so being comfortable with animals is a must. CPR certification is preferred. If you are interested in joining our family as a nanny/special needs aide, please message us with your qualifications and relevant experience. We look forward to welcoming the right person into our home! Please visit to view full details and to apply. FREE REGISTRATION and lots of jobs to choose from!
