This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment including dozers, compactors, excavators, loaders, and other related machinery used in day-to-day landfill operations. The successful candidate will ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with environmental regulations, company policies, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Operate heavy equipment such as compactors, bulldozers, excavators, and front-end loaders in a landfill environment.Spread, compact, and cover incoming waste materials in accordance with site-specific procedures and regulatory requirements.Perform routine daily inspections and maintenance of equipment, including cleaning, checking fluid levels, and reporting issues or required repairs.Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to company health & safety policies and procedures at all times.Assist with traffic control and the placement of waste to optimize airspace and environmental compliance.Support environmental control activities, including litter pick-up, covering of waste, and dust suppression.Monitor and report any unauthorized waste, hazards, or irregularities to the supervisor.Maintain accurate equipment logs and operational records.Work collaboratively with other team members and site staff to ensure operational efficiency and safety.Qualifications:Valid Class 5 Drivers License is an asset.Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a landfill, construction, or waste management setting.Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety protocols.Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Physical ability to perform manual labour and operate heavy machinery for extended periods.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, if required.This is more than a job - its your opportunity to be part of something bigger.
