This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing operation with long-term career potential.Position SummaryThe Dispatch Planner (Transportation) plays a critical role in coordinating daily transportation operations by combining real-time dispatch execution with forward-looking planning. This role is responsible for dispatching drivers, optimizing routes, managing capacity, and ensuring service commitments are met efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of two years of hands-on dispatch experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable balancing customer expectations, driver needs, and operational constraints in a high-volume transportation operation.Key ResponsibilitiesDispatch & ExecutionDispatch company drivers and/or owner-operators for local and regional runsMonitor driver activities throughout the shift to ensure on-time pickups and deliveriesCommunicate route changes, delays, and service issues in real timeAct as the primary point of contact for drivers during the shiftEnsure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), safety, and company policiesPlanning & OptimizationPlan daily and short-term routes to maximize equipment and driver utilizationBalance workload, capacity, and service requirements across multiple accountsAdjust plans proactively based on volume changes, delays, or operational constraintsCoordinate equipment availability, yard moves, and trailer planningSupport continuous improvement in routing efficiency and cost controlCustomer & Internal CoordinationLiaise with customers, warehouses, and internal teams to align schedulesResolve service issues professionally and proactivelyProvide accurate updates to customers and internal stakeholdersMaintain clear documentation and dispatch recordsAdministrative & SystemsUtilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and dispatch software effectivelyTrack KPIs such as on-time performance, utilization, and service metricsPrepare reports and support operational reviews as requiredQualifications & ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in truck dispatching or transportation operationsStrong understanding of local and regional trucking operationsWorking knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and transportation complianceExperience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS)Experience with ShipWise and/or A1 dispatch systems is considered a strong assetStrong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, sound decisionsExcellent communication skills with drivers, customers, and internal teamsAbility to perform well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environmentExperience in a high-volume transportation or logistics operation is an assetWhats OfferedFull-time, permanent role with a stable and reputable organizationCompetitive compensation packageOpportunity to work within a large, professional transportation operationSupportive team environment with opportunities for growth and advancementAccessibility & AccommodationThe employer is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process.
