Job Description

Lyndon Fish Hatcheries is a family owned, industry-leading hatchery that supplies several million rainbow trout eyed eggs and fingerlings to markets in Ontario and every province in Canada. This fulltime position''s focus will a combination of maintaining the existing facilities, installing new infrastructure to support expansion projects, as well as supporting the our fish hauling division during our spring/fall shipping seasons. Aquaculture Maintenance: $26-29/hr The aquaculture portion of this position will require skills in welding, mechanical, plumbing, general understanding of electrical and experience in operating the various power tools required. He/she will be required to perform physical labour both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Typical hours are 8-5 Monday to Friday. Hours outside of 8-5 are paid at time and a half, sick days, stats and vacation days. Health benefits eligible upon completing probation. AZ Fish Hauling: $35-45/hr We deliver to farms in northern Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Our peak shipping season is April 15-June 15 and Sept 15-Nov 30. During this time hours are highly variable and team driving during longer runs will be required. We run well maintained pre-emission equipment and paper logs. This position will require mechanical capabilities as well as an AZ license with experience in hauling liquids and pulling B trains. Reliability and consistency in availability is an asset. Education Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar position. Consideration will be given to applicants with the following skills: Agriculture, trades background, welding experience, mechanical ability, clean AZ driver abstract, and experience on long haul/hauling liquid. Excellent organization and planning skills. Proven relevant mechanical/electrical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills. General understanding of plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Completes assigned tasks in a professional manner. Job Duties A strong team player in performing and communicating maintenance-related tasks and posses the ability to work independently providing solutions and leveraging continuous improvement. Must have a strong safety awareness to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Responsible for safely installing and maintaining machinery and supporting structures. Responsible for preventative maintenance and continuous improvements on equipment and repairs on all production/facility related equipment. Occasionally assist with aspects of fish care (egg/fry care, daily husbandry, grading, vaccinating, and loading). Ability to Lift 30 kg (66 lbs). Requirements An interest in fish and the environment in which they thrive. Supports sustainability, enjoys being outside. The knowledge and ability to maintain farm and transportation equipment, troubleshoot electrical issues, and perform basic plumbing, welding and carpentry tasks. Can work in all weather conditions while working with water. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work well under pressure; perform routine, repetitive tasks; cope with a combination of sitting, standing, walking; bending for extended periods. Longer hours (up to 50-60 hrs/week) to be expected during our shipping season (April-June and Sept-Nov). Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and capacity to participate in continuous improvement processes. . Speak English, Reading text; Numeracy; Writing; Communication; Knowledge of MS Excel. Transportation/Travel Information Own transportation.
