By working at TRCA you will:Work outdoors during the spring and summer in beautiful natural areas.Gain valuable experience working at a conservation authority.Get a free Conservation Ontario annual pass.Get access to TRCAs Reciprocal Program (discounts across various Ontario attractions).How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:The Camp Counsellor is responsible for the supervision of campers and the delivery of interactive programs and activities of camps for various age groups within TRCAs portfolio of facilities and sites.Major Responsibilities:Develops and leads camp activities.Leads interactive and engaging camp programs for summer camp groups of all ages and abilitiesProvides supervision of campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidentsCoordinates the daily preparation and clean-up of camp programs, ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipmentReports and records any incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to senior camp staffWhat will you need to succeed:Education (degree/diploma/certifications) High school diplomaStandard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification requiredSuccessful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening. Employees/candidates under the age of eighteen (18) years are not eligible to have a VSS, therefore will not be requiredExperience1+ year of experience working with or volunteering with children in a group setting.Experience delivering programs and interactive activitiesCanoeing experience an asset (dependent on location)Knowledge/Skill/AbilityStrong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situationsDemonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issuesExcellent organization and time management skillsAbility to work independently and co-operatively as part of a teamKnowledge of natural history, 19th century history, or environmentally related disciplines is an asset (dependent on location) #J-18808-Ljbffr
