We are looking for a parttime Palliative Care Medical Officer with experience, to join our closeknit and highly skilled team. This is a new role, working alongside our current Palliative Care Medical Officer. The Opportunity We are seeking a qualified Palliative Care Medical Officer to join our team, working alongside our current Palliative Care Medical Officer. This is a new role. This role is open only to medical practitioners with specialist training and expertise in palliative medicine. You will have a deep understanding of complex symptom management, endoflife care, and the unique needs of patients and families facing lifelimiting illnesses. You bring a genuine commitment to providing compassionate, patientcentred care and a desire to make a meaningful difference in peoples lives. What Youll Do As a valued member of Karunas Specialist Palliative Care Service, you will: Provide patient reviews and prescribing support in collaboration with treating doctors, via digital consultations, phone calls, and home visits for more complex cases. Communicate clearly and compassionately with GPs, specialists, and families regarding treatment and care plans. Complete documentation in Palcare, including assessments, progress notes, and service data. Facilitate advanced care planning discussions and complete Acute Resuscitation Plans (ARP) where needed. Provide advice to the clinical team on symptom management and endoflife planning. Contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews and reflective practice meetings. Assist with Medicare billing and equipment applications. Participate in remunerated oncall as required, in consultation with your manager, and in a roster with the current Medical Officer. What Youll Bring Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner. FAChPM preferred but other qualifications and levels of experience will be considered. Demonstrated experience in medical practice (10 years preferred, but not essential for the right candidate). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. A current Queensland Drivers Licence.
