OverviewMetrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.Our Northern Corridors, Stouffville Line (Capital Project Delivery) Office is hiring a Project Manager to manage the design and construction of assigned transit infrastructure projects in a safe, timely, consistent and cost-effective manner. The Finch Avenue East Underpass Project is a road-under-rail grade separation project located at Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Road on the Uxbridge subdivision of the Stouffville corridor, which may include, but is not limited to, utility relocations; stormwater/groundwater; sidewalks; parking lots; realignment of railway tracks, or other project work as assigned. What Will I Be Doing? Coordinate multi-disciplinary stakeholders and complex government systems, including bridges and structures civil works, utilities and railway systems. Apply commercial acumen by administering contracts; negotiating with contractors; managing cost and change control. Make decisions and influence/supervise others in a complex rail environment. Manage multiple complex schemes from planning stages to commissioning and closeout, consistent with corporate commitments (budget, schedule, quality, risk). Manage all aspects of project scope of work; initiate, prepare, and present agreements that govern the engagement of consultants, suppliers, and contractors for execution. Identify procurement opportunities and budget management considerations, including knowledge of procurement processes; Construction Manager at Risk experience is an asset. Identify the need for concept, preliminary or detail design alternatives, or value engineering opportunities. Estimate project engineering, construction and contingency costs, and forecast timeframes for project implementation and funding expenditures; monitor and report using project management software. Review and evaluate consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies, procedures and standards. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including other areas of the Capital Projects Group, Metrolinx departments, municipal partners, and railways. Supervise staff engaged in all aspects of the project management cycle. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need? Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering; Structural Engineering; or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in project management, preferably within the public sector. Experience in planning, design, construction, and commissioning of transit facilities, heavy railway infrastructure, bridges, structures, and related works. Proven project management skills to manage multiple complex projects under schedule, budget, and quality constraints. Experience supervising staff and applying supervisory principles and practices. Project management experience to manage assigned projects through all stages from start to close-out. Knowledge of the transportation industry is an asset. Organizational, interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to liaise with all levels and on construction sites under pressure. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) are assets. Knowledge of contract law, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and construction standards and procedures applicable to operating railway environments. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Visio, Primavera P6. Willingness to visit construction sites during working hours and evenings, weekends and/or holidays as required. A valid Ontario G Drivers License is required for regular site visits. Presence at designated onsite locations as assigned, typically a minimum of three days per week, with potential for additional visits during evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
