OverviewJob Summary An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist in the Calderdale CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Team. The team includes Clinical Psychologists, a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Neurodevelopmental Practitioners and an Assistant Psychologist, with support from consultant psychiatry. The successful candidate will provide specialist diagnostic assessment to children and young people in a clinic setting, work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to determine when further assessment is required, and contribute to the neurodevelopmental assessment outcome. There are opportunities to supervise SALT students, contribute to learning and development within the CAMHS team, and supervise other team members. Training in ADOS and QB tests will be offered if required, and an extended induction period is provided. The post is 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements to be discussed. Other All employees of the Trust are encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.Main duties of the jobUndertake neurodevelopmental assessments through one-to-one assessments and neurodevelopmental interviews.Offer additional assessments such as a school observation or ADOS.Use diagnostic criteria to analyse information from assessment and present findings to the MDT.Participate in MDT meetings, supporting assessment discussions and formulation.Feedback assessment outcomes verbally and in writing to children, young people and their support systems.Offer supervision and training to the team.Support and supervise SALT students on placement.Contribute to service development.At a glanceHours: 37.5 per week; flexible working can be discussed.Location: Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre, Great Albion Street, Halifax, HX1 1YR.Band: 6; Salary: 38,682 to 46,580 per year.Contract: Permanent; Working pattern: Full-time, flexible working.Person SpecificationSpecial Knowledge & SkillsEssentialDemonstrable knowledge as a speech and language therapist in contemporary issues in Health, Education and Social Care relevant to the client group.Knowledge of the functions of related professions with this client group.Ability and experience in developing, writing, delivering and evaluating training for clients, families, students or other professionals.Personal AttributesEssentialWritten and verbal communication skills to convey professional information accurately and clearly.Effective communication in a variety of settings and with diverse people.Ability to work autonomously and use initiative; strong organisational and time management skills; ability to work within a team.QualificationsEssentialDegree in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapy, or equivalent.RCSLT Certificate to Practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.Current registration with the Health Care Professions Council.DesirableTraining in specific neurodevelopmental assessments (e.g., ADOS, QB).ExperienceEssentialExperience as a Speech and Language Therapist with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties.Clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis and management of neurodevelopmental difficulties across a range of clients.Experience coordinating the work of others as a Speech and Language Therapist.DesirableExperience assessing children and young people for ASD and ADHD.TrainingEssentialEvidence of relevant continuing professional development.Physical AttributesEssentialAbility to perform the duties and maintain a satisfactory sickness record as per policy.Ability to travel across the Trust as required.Appointment subject to satisfactory DBS check.Other required informationDisclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; a DBS disclosure is required.
