If youre a stroke neurologist dedicated to the fastpaced, decisive world of stroke care, KGH is where you belong. Join our highly collegial team of talented professionals at Kelowna General. The KGH stroke team serves as the main referral hub for Interior Health, with a catchment population of approximately one million people. Each year, we manage approximately 2,000 acute ischemic strokes and perform over 120 endovascular procedures. Our Stroke Program has achieved some of the best outcomes in Canada, providing residents of the BC Interior with the care they need. With a long history of virtual care, we support the entire continuum of stroke management across the region. Our group of 11 includes stroke, movement disorders, headache, and neuromuscular specialists, as well as general neurologists. Complementing this team, we have five specialised stroke nurses and a dedicated stroke unit. Our integrated team environment emphasises program development and innovative service delivery. If youre comfortable managing all aspects of complex stroke care and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in rural and remote areas, we want to hear from you. Here, youll have the opportunity to experience the rewards of clinical teaching, working with 3rd and 4thyear medical students from the UBC Southern Medical Program. Youll also engage with Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residents and visiting residents from other locations. Beyond teaching, our team participates in multiple stroke trials, both nationally and locally, while developing innovative solutions for underrepresented rural and remote populations. For those interested, there are numerous supports for leadership development, including Interior Healths NAVIG8 Program. Specifically designed for physicians, the NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program provides comprehensive training in the practical knowledge, behaviours, and skills needed by emerging medical leaders to take on leadership roles early in their careers. KELOWNA GENERAL HOSPITAL Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health, and is the regions main referral centre, offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH has become one of BCs leading healthcare centres. Home to the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre, the IHSC is BCs only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland, and KGHs principal surgical site. It features 12 specialised ORs created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ear, Nose, and Throat, Orthopaedics, General, and Trauma surgeries. Of these, 2 ORs are dedicated to Cardiac Surgery. Within the IHSC, KGH also has a modern maternity ward and an adjacent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our stateoftheart Centennial Building boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, new medical inpatient units, modern operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. Additional facilities include a dedicated paediatric ward, as well as adolescent and adult psychiatry units. The Dr. Walter Anderson Building houses enhanced laboratory and clinical departments, supporting advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities. KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC and has an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School.
