Job Description

Cree Nation Child & Family Caring Agency (CNCFCA) is responsible for administering and delivering Child and Family Services that are community-based, incorporating both protection and prevention services. The agency is deeply committed to maintaining family unity and providing culturally grounded, comprehensive services that support children, families, and communities within the Cree Nation. The Mobile Child & Family Service Worker provides essential support to children and families within CNCFCA communities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and connection to cultural values. This role involves delivering family-centered services, conducting assessments, and supporting case planning while respecting community traditions and practices. Key Responsibilities Placement Coordination & Follow-Up - Collaborates with Foster Care Workers to determine appropriate placements, completes placement documentation, initiates home assessments, and ensures timely follow-up after placement. Assessment, Case Planning & Permanency - Conducts comprehensive assessments, develops short- and long-term case plans, identifies special needs and supports, leads case conferencing, and establishes permanency and transition plans. Case Monitoring, Support & Family Engagement - Monitors child well-being through regular contact, provides counseling and support, arranges parent-child contact, and works collaboratively toward family reunification when appropriate. Intake, Risk & Safety Assessment - Receives and assesses referrals, conducts risk and safety assessments, responds within mandated timeframes, coordinates with external agencies (e.g., police, hospitals, CPU), and arranges emergency placements when required. Documentation, Reporting & Court Preparation - Maintains accurate and up-to-date case files, completes required documentation and data entry in CFSIS and other systems, and prepares and presents cases for family and youth court. Community Travel & On-Site Service Delivery - Travels regularly to assigned communities to deliver services, including coordinating flights, accommodations, and local transportation as required. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with 2 years of experience. Demonstrated work experience in Child and Family Services, with strong knowledge of child development, family-centred practice, early intervention, family support, and community-based services (mandatory). Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems; experience with CFSIS and FACTS is an asset. Strong understanding of the Child and Family Services Act, provincial standards, child abuse indicators, and best practices in child protection. Solid knowledge of family systems theory, child development theory, and available community resources (formal and informal). Demonstrated First Nations cultural awareness and respect for First Nations family traditions. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work compassionately with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
