About You / What We Are Looking For Calling upon your independent judgment, action and tact, you are a uniformed city ambassador promoting bylaw compliance and facilitating progressive enforcement where appropriate. A day in the life may include patrolling for a range of bylaw infractions including parking and lawn watering, or attending City of Coquitlam parks and open spaces by foot, bicycle or e-bike for a variety of bylaw violations including: smoking, littering, encampments, dogs at large, and dog licence checks. You will be required to collect evidence, maintain file notes, prepare reports and present evidence at adjudication hearings relating to tickets issued. Minimum Qualifications To thrive in this position, you are an excellent communicator who is skilled at working through challenges, adjusting to new priorities and learning new skills. You are strong at understanding and troubleshooting a variety of software; experience with ALPR (automated licence plate recognition) technology is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in investigation, regulatory enforcement and animal care, handling and control. Completion of the Bylaw 1 course from the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC), or other post secondary education is strongly recommended. A valid Class 5 Drivers Licence is a requirement for this position. The Temporary Full Time positions are based on 8.75 hour work days/4 days a week, with daily hours scheduled between the hours of 6:00am to midnight, Monday to Sunday inclusive. Hours of work will vary based on operational requirements. Some Auxiliary and Temporary Full Time shifts may involve occasional graveyard shifts with start times as early as 4:30 am due to seasonal watering restrictions. What We Offer: This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $34.39 - $40.49. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
