Territorial Lead, Mental Health and Community Wellness Department: Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canadas North. Job Information The Territorial Lead, Mental Health and Community Wellness will research and recommend the highest of quality care and services as they relate to the mental health and addictions services provided to all age groups. The incumbent will champion inter-professional collaboration among community counseling teams, nursing, medical and allied health professionals. Key Responsibilities Abilities in clinical counselling, mental health crisis response, suicide risk assessment, and critical incident debriefing. Knowledge and ability to use a variety of intervention and prevention methods and determine which method is most appropriate at any given time. Ability to apply creative and innovative approaches to policies within mental health and addiction services to meet territorial needs. Ability to apply a trauma- and violence-informed approach to clinical and policy work. Key Qualifications Baccalaureate degree in clinical social work, clinical counselling, or addictions counselling, and a minimum of three (3) years'' experience providing direct counselling in mental health and addiction services is required. A master''s in clinical social work, clinical counselling, or addictions counselling, and a minimum of one (1) year experience providing direct counselling in mental health and addiction services is required. Relevant experience can include, but not limited: Providing individual, couples, family, and group counselling for clients with mental health and/ or substance use disorders. Conducted crisis intervention and risk assessments for clients in acute distress. Assisted in developing clinical policies, procedures, and best practices for counselling programs. Offered clinical supervision and mentorship to frontline traditional wellness workers, counsellors, and/or clinical social workers, supporting clinical work, case management and professional development.
