As a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist: You will be a technical specialist that is accountable for the financial reporting of Meridian Credit Union and its subsidiaries, including Meridian OneCap Credit Corp. This includes components of monthly and annual financial and regulatory reporting, maintenance of the General Ledger and internal controls, and supporting the Financial Reporting team to achieve its objectives aligned with Meridians broader goals. Responsibilities Complete components of the monthly and annual financial and regulatory reporting processes for Meridian and its subsidiaries. Assist in maintaining the Meridian and subsidiary General Ledger and reporting integrity, including internal control environment, over assigned accounting transactions (e.g., provision for credit losses, financial instruments). Develop and maintain Financial Reporting processes and procedures for Meridian and its subsidiaries. Support the Financial Reporting team in achieving objectives aligned with the broader Finance team and Meridian as a whole. Complete assigned components of the month-end process (journal entries, monthly schedules, reconciliations). Perform monthly intercompany loan balancing, interest calculations, management fee postings, consolidation elimination entries, and related reconciliations. Maintain accounts receivable listing and post related entries. Assist in preparing monthly variance analysis with explanations of changes and differences to plan, for senior management. Prepare components of interim and year-end audits, including working papers and note disclosures; act as a contact for external auditors. Prepare quarterly unaudited financial statements for external distribution and assigned Board/Committee reports; complete ad hoc reports (e.g., Statistics Canada surveys). Represent the Financial Reporting team on cross-functional projects; determine impacts for mergers and acquisitions; assist in designing or modifying models to address policy changes. Maintain the General Ledger structure, NetSuite reports and dashboards; manage roles and user access; coordinate system configurations and integrations; resolve NetSuite issues; serve as a primary contact for GL/NetSuite inquiries. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for financial and regulatory reporting; identify and address internal control deficiencies; communicate policy changes across the organization. Engage in ongoing process improvement and provide support to other Senior Financial Reporting Specialists. Qualifications University or College degree in Finance & Accounting, or equivalent; CPA designation is an asset. 4+ years in a financial reporting environment; experience in a financial institution is desirable. Technical and practical knowledge of IFRS. Experience with NetSuite or similar financial accounting software; strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills; understanding of financial modelling. Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and ability to implement solutions at an operational level.
