These summer opportunities will begin May 4, 2026 and end August 22, 2026. Great Library, Great City, Great Opportunity If you are outgoing, enthusiastic and have a passion for working in the community with people of all ages then the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) has a summer position for you The focus of this role is to plan and lead library activities in the communities of Edmonton. You will have a unique opportunity to present classes and events in library branches, at playgrounds, daycares and community organizations for children of all ages. You will work with a professional and supportive branch staff and gain experience providing services to EPL customers. You will build relationships in our community and represent EPL Responsibilities: Prepare and present classes, children''s story times, share makerspace/technology for children, and crafts. Plan and present classes and events for other audiences as required (e.g. teens, seniors, etc). Assist library branch staff with Summer Starts (Summer Reading Club) promotion and events. Be an EPL ambassador, forming relationships with participants inside the branch and out in the community. Perform other duties as assigned. Completion of one year and enrolled in a related post-secondary program for 2026. NOTE: Must be a returning student in Fall of 2026. Experience working in customer service. Experience working with children is preferred. Experience preparing and presenting classes is an asset. Related library experience is an asset. What do you need to bring to this position? Enthusiasm with the ability to build excellent relationships with participants and potential participants. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to relate to customers of all ages. Ability to prepare and present classes that support literacy and learning for children of all ages. Comfortable with facilitating classes and events using new technologies. Effective time management skills. Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment. This position requires travel throughout Edmonton. A Class 5 Driver''s License and access to a vehicle is preferred. Placement opportunities for candidates without a driver''s license or vehicle are limited. Pay Band: $27.98 per hour Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement. Note: Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume to be considered for this position. Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check. This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts. Successful candidates must be able to work the full length of the contract; we will not be able to accommodate vacation requests.
