Delnor is looking for a General Accountant to join the team. The General Accountant is a detail-oriented accounting professional who plays an integral role in supporting both project accounting and corporate accounting functions. This position works closely with Project Managers as part of the project team, providing accurate job cost tracking, billing support, and timely financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to project-focused responsibilities, the General Accountant supports core corporate accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable support, and high-volume data entry. The role is well-suited for an individual who values accuracy, consistency, and collaboration, and who is interested in gaining broad exposure to construction accounting, ERP systems, and process improvement initiatives. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with Project Managers to support monthly project financial reporting, including job cost reviews, margin analysis, and preparation of accruals. Review contract terms and project setup to ensure accurate billing, cost recovery, and compliance with contractual requirements. Prepare and support customer billings and invoicing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation. Coordinate the collection, review, and processing of timesheets and payroll-related project allocations. Support Accounts Payable processing, including invoice entry, cost coding validation, and compliance with purchase orders and subcontract agreements. Maintain subcontractor commitments, track progress billings, and assist with payment processing in accordance with contractual terms. Prepare and post journal entries within the financial ERP system (Viewpoint Construction Software). Assist with general ledger and subledger reconciliations, including month-end close support. Provide support across full-cycle accounting activities, including AP, AR, payroll allocations, and job cost entries. Perform accurate, high-volume data entry to maintain the integrity of financial and project records. Participate in accounting process improvements and ERP-related initiatives, including system enhancements and workflow improvements. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Post-secondary diploma or university degree in Accounting. 23 years of accounting experience in a project-based or construction environment is preferred. Exposure to construction accounting systems; experience with Viewpoint (Vista) is considered a strong asset. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in transactional and data-intensive work. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Organized, dependable, and motivated to learn and grow within a construction accounting environment.
