We approach every challenge with expertise, real-world experience, and relentless curiosity. Building on what weve learned, we deliver solutions that drive sustainable growth within an evolving energy system. The Position: We are seeking a Senior Petrophysicist to join our team in the Americas on either a full-time or contract basis to provide high-level technical expertise to a diverse portfolio of North American energy clients. This role is responsible for leading complex petrophysical studies, mentoring staff, and serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients across all reservoir characterization projects. The Senior Petrophysicist will play a key role in delivering integrated subsurface solutions, maintaining technical excellence, and have proven experience collaborating with client and internal teams including geologists, reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and data scientists. The primary task will be assessing and completing independent petrophysical interpretations and audits. This requires critical evaluation skills, adaptability, problem-solving, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often working on several short-term projects simultaneously. Based in either Calgary or Mexico City, the successful candidate will work with our team of Geoscientists and Engineers in the Americas Subsurface Advisory Group, reporting to our Team Lead, Geoscience in Calgary. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute quantitative petrophysical evaluations for client projects using quick-look, deterministic, and/or probabilistic log analysis methods across conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Develop fit-for-purpose petrophysical models and workflows tailored to client objectives and geologic settings. Integrate multiple data sources, including but not limited to: wireline logs, LWD/MWD data, core and SCAL data, image logs, fracture, and production data into robust interpretations. Serve as a technical authority and advisor to clients, presenting results, recommendations, and uncertainty assessments. Stay current with emerging petrophysical technologies, digital workflows, and industry best practices. Perform integrated studies in project teams. Other tasks you may be involved with include: Supporting various geoscience technical tasks. General support of business activities at Sproule ERCE through proposal support, client meetings, and thought leadership. Potential for some operational petrophysical support. Education & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related earth science discipline. APEGA professional designation or be eligible to obtain it. 10+ years of progressive petrophysical experience, including significant consulting and/or operator experience. Strong experience with North American basins, including unconventional resource plays and/or complex conventional reservoirs is required. Knowledge and experience in Latin American plays is preferred. Experience in other international basins is an asset. Expert-level proficiency with industry-standard petrophysical software (e.g., Techlog, Gverse Petrophysics). Deep understanding of formation evaluation tools, logging environments, core analysis, and rock physics fundamentals. Authorization to work in Canada and/or Mexico, as applicable with a preference for Canada. Strong English written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to technical and executive audiences. Proven ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and deliver high-quality results. Ability to collaborate well with others.
