viaSport British Columbia is inviting passionate individuals to apply for positions on its Board of Directors. We are seeking leaders who can contribute their time, expertise, and lived experiences to help guide our collective sport ecosystem with the aim of inspiring more British Columbians to play, grow, and connect through sport. ABOUT VIASPORT viaSport BC (viaSport) is an independent not-for-profit organization and a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games operating as the provincial governments lead agency responsible for promoting and developing amateur sport in British Columbia. viaSport leads the development and growth of amateur sport in BC by working closely with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport to steward the provincial governments investment in amateur sport. We work directly with Designated Sport Organizations in BC to build a stronger, more effective sport system; we work collaboratively with all interest holders to build public trust and increase confidence in amateur sport. VIASPORT MISSION We provide strategic leadership to the amateur sport system by: convening and collaborating with partners to build public trust and confidence in the promise of sport. connecting sport organizations to funding, resources, and other capacitybuilding. developing policy and shared measurement practices. collecting data and providing information to advance shared goals. advancing economic growth and social development through equitable access to sport. ABOUT THE BOARD In alignment with viaSports Board Charter and Director role description, the viaSport Board provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the organization fulfills its mission. Guided by a deep commitment to helping British Columbians reach their potential through sport, we are particularly focused on broadening diversity and welcoming new perspectives from across the province. Skills, expertise, or lived experience in areas such as disability inclusion, leading community service delivery, and safeguarding are highly valued and will strengthen the Boards collective impact. We would also like to encourage applicants with experience in marketing, human resources, legislation and policy, and Information technology.
