Eligible for membership with Speech and Audiology Canada, Speech and Hearing BC, and registration by the College of Health Care Professionals BC (CHCPBC). Must have Masters Level Training or equivalent in speech and language pathology. Training in Hanen methodologies would be an asset. Possess strong organizational, time, and general management skills. Experience in assessing speech and language needs of students with autism and other disabilities. Experience in working with educational teams with problem solving and implementation. Ability to problem solve, model, and learn to implement a variety of AAC devices. Experience in designing programs for students with autism and other disabilities. Hold a valid Class 5, B.C. Driver''s License and an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current driver''s abstract. Specific assignment to be determined by the school principals, in consultation with the District Principal of Inclusive Education. Key tasks and expectations related to this specialist position will involve: Working with educational staff to assess and design programs for students with a variety of disabilities. Writing programs to support students and supporting implementation. Travel to different schools in outlying communities. Will involve working with other agencies and support people. Communication with parents.
