The Licensed Technician is responsible for diligently maintaining, repairing and servicing customer vehicles to ensure both customer safety and satisfaction while contributing to overall departmental success. A key priority for a technician is to instil brand loyalty and ensure a positive customer service experience. The Licensed Technician should have excellent communication skills and is able to listen, understand and execute all requirements in the Service process. The technician can focus on the big-picture without missing any of the details and delivers results. They continually strive to become an expert in their field so that the service provided is above customer expectations. A Licensed Technician upholds the dealerships'' standards and values so that the customer is fully satisfied through every interaction with the service department. Responsibilities Perform work as described on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with the manufacturer and dealership''s standards. Diagnose the cause of vehicle malfunctions and recommend/perform appropriate repairs. Examine vehicle to identify necessary repair or maintenance items that may not be included on the repair order and communicate to Service Advisor or Shop Foreman. Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Notify Service Advisor or Shop Foreman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined on repair order is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed by the time promised. Clearly and accurately document all work performed. Road test vehicles as required or refer to the inspection technician as appropriate. Attend and successfully complete factory training as required by the manufacturer or dealership. Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins. Follow warranty material disposition procedures. Save and tag parts of the job if requested by the customer. Understand and follow federal, provincial and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes. Maintain the order and cleanliness of customer cars and work areas. Account for all dealership-owned tools at all times. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received. Meet all requirements of provincial and federal law dealing with automobile repair and consumer protection. Requirements Valid Automotive Licensed Mechanic Certification (310S) Brand experience preferred but not required. Ability to multi-task Valid Driver''s license and clean driving record. Strong written and verbal communication skills (proficient in English). Reliable and disciplined - able to follow through on assignments. Organized/able to prioritize in order to meet deadlines.
