Reporting to the Director for Metis Economic Development Initiatives, the EDC is responsible for providing value-added business development support services to Mtis owned businesses who are interested in starting or expanding a business. In addition, the EDO assists with projects that will build potential for regional economic development, business opportunity and administrative support to the Economic Development Working Group (EDWG). What you will be doing: - Support the economic well-being of Mtis businesses and communities. - Promote the Mtis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Business Registry to internal and external audiences, including existing Mtis-owned businesses. - Liaise with Mtis-owned businesses and support their successful registration and upkeep within the MNO Business Registry. - Support internal and external stakeholders in identifying Mtis-owned businesses within the MNO Business Registry that meet their short and long-term procurement needs. - Support the creation of data and reporting products for MNO Leadership, using information within the MNO Business Registry. - Identify and secure funding, resources, and procurement opportunities of relevance to Mtis-owned businesses. - Support the creation of an innovation hub that facilitates information exchange, networking, and Mtis business-to-business partnerships to strengthen Mtis supply chains. - Develop training opportunities for Mtis entrepreneurs and business owners in topics such as procurement, marketing, financial literacy, business planning and other related topics. - Promote networking among Mtis-owned businesses for the purposes of encouraging Mtis business-to-business partnerships and the development of Mtis supply chains. - Develop relationships with key external partners that can contribute to Mtis economic and small business development. - Attend internal and external events to promote Mtis-owned businesses, economic development and procurement opportunities. - Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with others (employees, citizens, council, volunteers, advocates, etc.) - Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within the MNOs policies and procedures and provincial legislation. - Performs other job/branch-related duties as required. Qualifications: - 3 to 5 years of experience working within an economic development environment, preferably within the public sector and/or certification as a Professional Economic Developer (EcD). - College Diploma (1 or 2 year): Economic development/international development, community planning. - Knowledge of local, regional and rural Ontario economy. - Knowledge of Community Economic Development theory and of economic development and planning principles within a local government context. - Ability to manage numerous projects and deadlines simultaneously and to balance changing workloads and priorities. - Excellent relationship building skills, able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff, elected members, businesses and communities. - Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. - Community engagement experience - Ability to develop and present materials and concepts to diverse group - Ability to be self-directed, results orientated and deliver professional products. - Strong research, analysis, and strategic thinking skills. - Ability to work in both a remote and in-office work environment - High degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment and software. - Strong computer skills, including ability to proficiently use relevant hardware, software (including MS Office) - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
