Role description Arcadis is seeking a Technical Director, Municipal Roadway Design, to join our Mobility Advisory group in western Canada. We are looking for an accomplished transportation design leader to help shape the future of municipal roadway, active transportation, linear infrastructure, and transit projects across Western Canada. This role will offer the opportunity to lead meaningful, visible projects that improve communities and move people more safely and sustainably. Working with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, this role will apply deep municipal roadway design expertise to set technical direction and deliver technically robust, constructible solutions. Responsibilities span technical leadership and oversight of detailed calculations and model creation through drawing production, plans, section details, specifications, and engineering reports. This team is a part of our Mobility Global Business Area. Role accountabilities In this role you will provide transportation engineering design leadership and technical oversight with a clear focus on municipal roadway projects, taking responsibility for establishing standards of practice and ensuring excellence in detailed calculations, model creation, and drawing production while guiding the development of plans, crosssections, pavement and curb details, associated engineering reports, and contract specifications for a wide variety of infrastructure works. You will lead the preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates and rigorously review project documents prior to issue to verify scope, presentation, and technical accuracyensuring compliance with municipal standards, constructability, and procurement readiness while instituting robust QA/QC processes and signoff. The role involves directing the delivery of technical designs to meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives by overseeing full design packages and working closely with other engineering disciplines and technical specialists to integrate roadway design with utilities, drainage, traffic control, and environmental requirements while meeting stakeholder and municipal criteria and advancing project approvals. This position requires applying advanced knowledge of stormwater analysis and design together with exceptional leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; you will be strategic, committed to highquality work and attention to detail, and able to mentor and inspire teams while working effectively with clients and diverse project stakeholders to deliver reliable, constructible municipal roadway solutions. Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta or BC 20+ years of municipal infrastructure and roadway design experience, including progressive technical leadership, QA/QC governance, client engagement, and successful delivery of complex, multidisciplinary programs Experience integrating new civil infrastructure with existing infrastructure (asset) Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D for design purposes is required Why Arcadis? The salary range for this position is $162,000 - $212,000. The base salary represents Arcadis hiring range for this position.
